Okay,
so now I know that Rock and Roll originated from Black African Music and that
the slave songs contained codes and secret messages, and that Rock songs also contain codes and
hidden messages. But you still have not told me what Rock and Roll has to do with
the Second Coming.
When I was fourteen years old, and a freshman
in a Catholic high school, I had a teacher who brought a record player (turn
table) into our social ethics (religion) class quite frequently and he would
play Rock Songs in class. I thought that was very unique. And since I loved
Rock and Roll I was very attentive. No other teacher had ever played Rock Songs
in class before to teach a lesson. He would play the song, then give his
interpretation of the song. He taught whatever lesson he was teaching by use of
the Rock Songs. He did this many times with different Rock Songs. One song that
I remember very well that he played in class was the song, Eve of Destruction,
by Barry McGuire. The song was written in 1965. He played the song to our class
in 1967. He explained the Second Coming of Christ to us by using the lyrics in
this song. Below I have given a brief synopsis of how the song could be
interpreted as being about the Second Coming of Christ, via 1967.
Lyrics | Meanings |
The Eastern world, it is exploding | Israel attacked Egypt, Jordan, Syria and Iraq in a six-day war that began on June 6, 1967 and ended on June 11, 1967. It was called the Six Day War. The Mid- East was exploding. |
Violence blaring, bullets loading | There was violence and exchange of gunfire. |
You're old enough to kill but not for votin' | Eligible military age was 18 years old (can join at age 17 with parents signature) Voting age was 21 in 1967. |
You don't believe in war, but what's that gun you're totin'? | They don't believe in war, but they fought anyway. |
And even the Jordan River has bodies floatin' | There were dead that floated in the Jordan River during this conflict. |
But you tell me over and over and over again, my friend, Ah, you don't believe we're on the eve of destruction. |
We are close to the Second Coming of Christ because of the turmoil in the Middle East |
Don't you understand what I'm tryin to say? | I'm trying to tell you something |
Can't you fell the fears I'm feeling today? | I feel the Second Coming is very near |
If the button is pushed there's no runnin' away | The Mid-East has the capacity to destroy with the push of a button. No one can escape the wrath |
There'll be no one to save with the world in a grave | Millions will be sent to their graves |
Take a look around ya boy, it's bound to scare ya boy | Take a look around ya boy, it will scare you |
But you tell me over and over and over again, my friend, Ah, you don't believe we're on the eve of destruction. |
We are close to the Second Coming of Christ because of the turmoil in the Middle East |
Yeah, my bloods so mad feels like coagulatin' | The condition of the world upsets me |
I'm sittin' here just contemplatin' |
I think about the condition of the world |
I can't twist the truth, it knows no regulation |
Truth cannot be regulated |
Handfull of senators don't pass legislation |
Not everyone agrees with the United States of America's Government stand on Israel |
And marches alone can't bring integration |
Violence is not the answer |
When human respect is disintegratin' |
We need to respect our differences |
This whole crazy world is just too frustratin' |
We live in a frustrated world |
But you tell me over and over and over again, my friend, Ah, you don't believe we're on the eve of destruction. |
We are close to the Second Coming of Christ because of the turmoil in the Middle East |
Think of all the hate there is in Red China |
China is a communistic country ( in 1967) |
Then take a look around to Selma, Alabama |
Violence by marches in the U.S. is no different than violence in Communistic China |
You may leave here for four days in space |
Jesus left earth and went into space (heaven) |
But when you return it's the same old place |
When Jesus returns to the earth, He will change things |
The poundin' of the drums, the pride and disgrace |
Funeral march for those who died defending Israel |
You can bury your dead, but don't leave a trace |
Bury the dead soldiers, but don't forget about them |
Hate your next-door neighbor, but don't forget to say grace |
Don't be hypocritical, Jesus is coming soon |
And you tell me over and over and over again, my friend, You don't believe we're on the eve of destruction. |
We are close to the Second Coming of Christ because of the turmoil in the Middle East |
This
song was not written about the Second Coming of Christ. But you have seen how I
interpreted it as being about the Second Coming of Christ. In
fact, through this song I learned about the Second Coming of Christ. Our
teacher went on to explain that The Second Coming of Christ will occur in The Middle East. He stated that the turmoil in
the Middle East will eventually lead yet to another war that will put us on the
brink of destruction. I believed he believed
that would happen very soon. He stated that there will be a future war in the
Middle East that will usher in the Second Coming of Christ, that while
this war is in progress, Jesus will suddenly appear in the sky with many
angels. He will appear in the clouds and everyone will see Him.
Matthew 24:30; Thessalonians
4:16; Revelation 1:7 Our teacher, Father Geidman, a Roman Catholic Priest, had
used a Rock and Roll song to identify conflict in the Middle East and then
elaborated on that strife to show its significance to the Second Coming of
Christ. He had taught us about the Second Coming of Christ by using the lyrics
and message in a Rock and Roll song. I learned about the Second Coming of Christ from a Rock and Roll song when I was fourteen years old from a Roman Catholic Priest. Cool!
